Picturesque Adobe in Historical Santa Fe

We live in an artisan adobe situated on five acres with a river running through the property, not far from downtown Santa Fe. Santa Fe is the oldest capital in the United States, after New York, the most important art center in the States and a seat of Native American culture and southwestern scenic beauty. It's beautiful here . . . people come to Santa Fe just to enjoy the sky. . .  the ever changing clouds and the breathtaking sunsets. Southwest cuisine is quite distinctive with its famous green hatch chili's. In addition to local cuisine, there are a quite a few excellent high end restaurants for fine dining. The weather here is lovely because Santa Fe is at about 7,300 feet, so it's mild during the day and cool at night.

Our home is approximately 1800 square feet and features stenciled inlaid stone floors and an Anasazi-style fireplace. There's a master bedroom with bath and comfortable den with a desk and computer and a very comfortable, high quality queen-size fold out bed. The living room couch is an oversized queen sleeper sofa. We just upgraded our kitchen which is now equipped with a professional Wolf stove and hood. There is a 50" television with extensive cable selections and two good stereo's. Our new gardens are quite beautiful, with a lovely arbor with climbing morning glories and russian sage and California poppies set in a rustic stone bed. We have a jacuzzi, from which to enjoy the starry night sky, an infrared sauna, and a lovely front porch with portale, ideal for summer bbq's. Adobe's are daub and wattle, designed to be energy efficient, so the house is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. We're have a nice organic garden that produces food in the summer. There're several nice hiking trails just outside the front door! We will be happy to provide a car for your use.

The city of Santa Fe features almost 300 art galleries on historic Canyon Road; many notable museums including the Museum of Indian Art and the Folk Art Museum; and a terrific performing arts center, The Lensic. You'll enjoy visiting the Georgia O'Keefe Museum and her homes in Abiqui and Ghost Ranch. Also nearby is Taos, home a fabled North American pueblo and ski resport. There are many historic towns nearby including Rio Chama & Truchas along with a dozen pueblos.

There is a wonderful farmer's market every Tuesday and Saturday, and an Artisan Market on Saturday where all types of local artisan crafts are sold. Nearby scenic hikes are around the corner and include some beautiful national forests & parks including Tent Rock, White Sands National Park, Bandolier National Park, and Aquirre Spring.

Santa Fe is also an ideal launching pad to the Southwest. Not far from Chaco Canyon, we are four to five hours from Mesa Verde and Canyon de Cheye, and a little less than eight hours to the Grand Canyon. The southwest is home to many of the countries most beautiful national parks including Arches, Bryce, Zion, Canyonlands, and the Painted Dessert.

I have done several home swaps in the past and they have always worked out wonderfully. We are eager to make your stay in Santa Fe memorable. Lifestyle

Jeffrey and I are retired.

I'm starting a working food coop to make good food affordable for everyone; equal parts local food, food justice, support for local farmers and our local economy, and bringing the community together. Jeffrey is a naturopath, specializing in stress management.

Santa Fe's a wonderful place to hike and bike, visit art galleries, and soak up the Native American culture.

We love the rural character of our home, and it's just 20 minutes to the city!
