Our Neighbourhood
Our house is in the Vatnsendi area of Kópavogur, which can be categorized as a suburb of Reykjavík. The area was planned as a mixture of city/country with wide spaces and a myriad of walking/hiking and horse riding trails. The beautiful surroundings of lake Elliðavatn and the Heiðmörk nature reserve are at our doorstep.
Grocery shopping is within easy distance, with supermarkets in nearby Ögurhvarf and Vallakór.
Football fields, fitness centres and a public geothermal swimming pool are all within easy walking/biking distance.
Bus route 28 stops close by and takes you to the centre of Kópavogur as well as to Mjóddin in Reykjavík from where buses to all directions are available. The distance to the centre of Reykjavík is about 8 km.
