A nice summerhouse near the Golden Circle, only 55 minutes drive from Reykjavík
Beautiful summer house, in the best location in Grímsnes, near swimming pool and golf courses. The largest towns nearby is Selfoss and Hveragerði. Short drive to the beautiful natural wonders of South Iceland, Golden circle, Thingvellir, Laugarvatn and more. The crater Kerid is only ten minutes away by car.
The summerhouse has two bedrooms with double beds and a sleeping loft with two single beds. The house fits well for a couple, two couples or a family up to 6 people. The kitchen is equipped with all the main equipments, a dishwasher, baking oven and a refrigerator with a freezer. We also have airfryer. One bathroom with shower and washing machine. Outside is a hot tube, chairs for 8 people, table and a barbeque grill and pizza oven.
We have a large sun deck around the house, with a hot tube with massage and gardens furnitures. There is a Panorama view over the mountains in the neighbourhood.
Possibility to exchange our apartment in Garðabær, an apartment on the ground floor 10 kilometers from the center of Reykjavík- IS52988-.Only for exchange at the same time e.g. long weekend in the city. Only for two adults.

About the neighborhood
The summerhouse is located in a small cluster of summerhouses. The area is closed with af security gate, and the house have also a security alarm. It is a short distance to most beautiful nature of south Iceland. For example the Golden Circle, Thingvellir, Laugarvatn and Reykholt. There are lot of swimming pools in the area and also hot springs. There is a small village in Minni Borg, where you can find one of the best swimming pool in the area, it is a walking distance from the house.
You can take a day tour to Vestmannaeyjar, either with your car or leave it at the harbour and walk around the island. The ferry is sailing from Landeyjahöfn 4 times a day. Information at www.herjolfur.is
The best way to find the way to the summer house is using google maps, from Keflavik airport to Borg í Grímsnesi, then take first exit road no 354 Sólmeimavegur ca 1,2 km
Skálholt is church, about 18 km far from our house. It was a bishop's residence from the beginning of 1056 until the 19th century and can be said to be the capital of Iceland for many centuries. A school was run there for a long time. In Skálholt was the largest church that has been built in Iceland, the church of Bishop Klæng Þorsteinsson, and it was much larger than the current church there, which was built in 1963.
Every summer there is a Summer Concerts in Skálholt.

In Skálholt is a restaurant Hvönn, healthy food from the surroundings.
About 3 km further ther is a new Lagoon called Laugarás and a restaurant Ylja.
There are many restaurants in Selfoss and Hveragerði, and swimmingpools as well. Laugarskarð in Hveragerði is one of our favorite, an old pool with a steam bath from the nature.
Blue Lagoon is an option, when you are travelling from or to the Keflavik airport.

Mjög ánægjuleg skipti, vorum í miklum samskiptum við eigendurna sem vildu gera okkur dvölina sem ánægjulegustu. Allt var 100% m.v. lýsingu á húsi og umhverfi.
Heimiliskiptin gengu vel og allt stóðst sem um var talað. Húsráðendur voru búnir að undirbúa komu okkar vel, m.a. að biðja vini og vandamenn að hjálpa okkur ef eitthvað bjátaði á. Höfum mjög jákvæða reyslu af þessum skiptum.

We are a couple living in Garðabær. We have three grown up sons and four grandsons. We have always traveled a lot both in Iceland and in Europe. We are playing golf in the summertime and we have also went many times to Italy and Austria for skiing. We made our first home exchange to Spain in September 2019 and in 2022 we had our second, we stayed in Vancouver island for 3 wonderful weeks liked it a lot. We also had great exchange in Spain Javea, where we spent last easter holiday in a good company with some relatives. We only have a good exprience of homeexchanges so far.
