Characterful house set between a national park & award-winning coast
With plenty of character, our home is within 10 minutes walk of the town centre and surrounded by trees, nature and bird song. We love being able to enjoy the local town & all it brings without being in the heart of it. The garden feels like you're in the countryside, especially when you hear the stream. Our neighbours are friendly and keep to themselves, even the chickens!
With plenty of space in our home and lots of natural light, it's easy to find somewhere to relax together or separately. Given its age and the choices of previous owners we're still very much in the process of putting our stamp on the place, but we're lovers of colour & fun, we hope our home shows this after the 4 short years we've been here.
We still have a lot of decorating and work to do on the house (bathroom, spare bedrooms and garden!) but it is functional and comfortable!

About the neighborhood
We live in Betws, a friendly village on the edge of Ammanford. From our house, it's just a short walk into the town centre, while a beautiful countryside walk begins right next door. Within moments, you can be surrounded by fields, trees, and grazing horses, yet still have all the convenience of town amenities close at hand.
Ammanford is a welcoming market town in the heart of the Amman Valley, surrounded by rolling hills and mountain views. It offers everything you need for everyday living while retaining a relaxed small-town feel, with easy traffic, friendly locals, independent cafés, restaurants, pubs, and shops.
One of the things we love most about living here is how well placed it is for exploring South and West Wales. Swansea and the stunning Gower Peninsula are within easy reach, as are Cardiff, the picturesque town of Llandeilo, the county town of Carmarthen, and the beautiful coastlines of Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion. Whether you enjoy beaches, countryside walks, castles, historic towns, family attractions, or cultural days out, there is an enormous amount to discover nearby.
Our location makes an excellent base for exploring Wales. Many of the country's most beautiful landscapes, coastal paths, historic sites, and family-friendly attractions can be reached as day trips, allowing visitors to experience both the rugged coastline and the green Welsh countryside from one convenient location. An hour in the car will offer the choice between scenic coastlines, being among mountains or city centre life - something for everyone!

All very good. Easy communications and an interesting house and location in South Wales.
We have had wn excellent exchange with the Kennedys in Ammanford. They were very nice hosts and took great care of our house. We absolutely recommend them for future exchanges. Ammanford is a nice small town in Wales close to a lot of highlight in Wales and the house had everything you need for a comfortable stay.

A small family looking for relaxing swaps
Hello, I'm Alys. I'm a Welsh woman living in the town where I grew up, while my husband Paul is an Irishman who once came to stay with my parents and somehow ended up married to me!
We now live here with our young son and enjoy a relaxed family life close to beautiful beaches, parks, and the Welsh countryside. Our favourite days are often the simplest ones: exploring somewhere new, spending time by the sea, finding interesting food in local supermarkets (mainly my hobby!), cooking together, and curling up in the evening with a good TV series.
Music is a big part of our lives and we both enjoy playing the piano. We also love visiting theatres, exploring new cities, and discovering the character of different places. We are actively involved in our local church community and enjoy visiting churches when we travel.
Home exchange has been a wonderful way for us to spend quality time together as a family and explore new places in an affordable way. We are flexible about dates and length of stay, whether that's a weekend break, a week away, or a longer holiday. We are particularly interested in building a long-term exchange friendship with a family in Northern Ireland, as Paul's family live there and we visit regularly.
We have already enjoyed successful exchanges in North Wales and Stockholm, both of which were wonderful experiences for everyone involved. We value trust, clear communication, and treating other people's homes with the same care and respect that we give our own.
At the moment, we're mainly interested in exploring different parts of the UK, although we're always happy to hear from like-minded families and look ahead to future adventures.
